Login, Logoff, Exit
Log in to access My MadCat Account, to place requests, or to be presented with the specific databases your library allows you to search.
If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so when you select My MadCat Account or Place Requests.
- Type your UW ID number in the appropriate box (11 digits for UW-Madison) and your last name in the Last Name text box.
- Click Login. Click Reset to clear your typing and start over.
Note: If you use more than one UW-Madison ID for library transactions, you will need to check each ID separately.
Choose Logoff to maintain your privacy and choose Exit to ensure your account information has been cleared from the screen.
ID Cards and 11-Digit Number
You must supply your 11-digit UW-Madison ID number and your last name to access your account. If there is an issue code at the bottom left corner of your ID, that code is the 11th digit.

Blocked Accounts
You may be blocked from logging in to access your MadCat account, to place requests, or to be presented with the specific databases your library allows you to search.
Some reasons for a blocked account are:
- An item you have checked out has been recalled by another patron and is overdue
- You have three or more lost items (from UW-Madison and/or other UW System libraries) on your record
