Subject Heading Browse

Subject Heading Browse searches by authorized subject headings from the Library of Congress or the National Library of Medicine to find items that are about a specific subject.
Select the Basic Search. Highlight Subject Browse in the Search By: dropdown menu. To find items about the Vietnam War, type:
vietnam war
Keywords Searching to Identify Subject Heading
In many cases you will not know the authorized subject heading. Try a Keywords search first to identify the subject heading and all items associated with it.
Select the Basic Search mode. Highlight Keywords in the Search By: dropdown menu. To find items about performance enhancing drugs, type:
"performance enhancing drugs"
The records found for this search would indicate the correct subject heading. Click on the heading to find the other titles associated with it. For example, Athletes--Drug use and Doping in sports are the Library of Congress Subject Headings for performance enhancing drugs.
